The Oculus Pentacam Scheimpflug Corneal Topographer provides you with an overall view of the anterior eye segment in a matter of seconds. Measurements are performed by auto -release and accompanied by a quality test, and are thus guaranteed to be fast, reproducible and delegable.
The Oculus Pentacam Scheimpflug Corneal Topographer from Oculus comes with an extensive basic software package which can be extended according to your needs to include further optional software packages and modules.
The Oculus Pentacam Scheimpflug images the anterior segment of the eye by a rotating Scheimpflug camera measurement. This rotating process supplies pictures in three dimensions. The center of the cornea is measured very prec isely because of this rotational imaging process. The measurement process lasts less than two seconds and minute eye movements are captured and corrected simultaneously. By measuring 25,000 true elevation points, precise representation, repeatability and analysis are guaranteed.
How the Scheimpflug Principle Works in the culus Pentacam Scheimpflug
- Illumination and Slit:
A thin layer of the eye is illuminated with a slit of blue light.
- · Scheimpflug Orientation:
The camera is oriented according to the Scheimpflug principle, aligning the image plane, subject plane, and lens plane.
- · Image Capture:
This alignment allows the camera to capture a sharp, high-resolution image of the illuminated plane from the front of the cornea to the posterior surface of the lens in a single, sharp view.
- · Rotating Image Acquisition:
The slit illumination system and the Scheimpflug camera rotate together around the eye.
- · 3D Model Generation:
This process generates multiple, radially oriented images, which are then used to construct a complete 3D model of the anterior segment.
Key Benefits and Applications
- Comprehensive Anterior Segment Imaging: Creates a complete 3D model of the anterior segment.
- · Precise Corneal Topography: Provides detailed maps of the cornea’s shape and curvature.
- · Precise Measurements: The rotating imaging process corrects for eye movements and captures more than 25,000 elevation points, ensuring high precision and repeatability.
- · Diagnostic Capabilities: Used for screening and diagnosis of conditions like corneal ectasia, planning refractive surgery (like LASIK), and evaluating cataracts and intraocular lenses.
- · Enhanced Diagnostics with Cornea OCT: Modern Pentacam devices (Pentacam Cornea OCT) can combine Scheimpflug technology with OCT to provide unmatched detail of corneal structures, including precise epithelial thickness mapping.
