Description

Zeiss GDx Pro 8000 Scanning Laser is the only commercially available, current-generation scanning laser polarimeter. GDx-Pro uses a near-infrared laser (780nm) in a raster pattern to image the macula and peripapillary region.
A basic understanding of how “birefringence” and “retardation” is vital to understand how this tech pictures the optic nerve.

Birefringence is an optical property of exceptionally organized and parallel constructions that split a light wave by a polar material (polarized light) to two parts. These components travel at different velocities, which makes a phase change that is relative. The phase shift is termed retardation.

Zeiss GDx Pro 8000 Scanning Laser SLP imaging technology suggested by NFI values that are greater. Various studies have shown that the NFI is at differentiating between your GDx parameter

  • GDx™, the world’s only Scanning Laser Polarimeter (SLP), uniquely characterizes RNFL Integrity (RNFL-I™), structural information that goes beyond thickness.
  • Recent studies suggest that RNFL micro-structures change orientation and density before RNFL anatomical thickness changes become apparent.1,2
  • The SLP measurement in GDx, RNFL-I, depends on both RNFL thickness and the cumulative level of organization of its microstructures.
  • RNFL Integrity is a discrete assessment of RNFL health that today only GDx Scanning Laser Polarimetry can quantify.
  • Zeiss GDx Pro 8000 Scanning Laser polarimetry is the next evolution in GDx technology.
